Take it Digital – A Cobb County Local SEO Company
“Local SEO” means “Local Search Engine Optimization”
Okay, so there’s regular organic SEO and then there’s Local SEO. You may ask yourself; What is Local SEO and what is the difference? Well … this refers to the process of search engines actually featuring local businesses on the first page of their perspective results pages. Search engines do not just show web page listings in their search engines anymore. Today, search engines such as Google, feature “local businesses” in their results from their perspective business directories (i.e. Google Maps/Bing Maps). Google and other search engines pull information from their users ip addresses in order to deliver better local results.
The Death of Print Directories and the rise of Local SEO
Prior to 2005, consumers relied heavily on the old fashion Yellow Book or simply dialed 411 to find businesses, street addresses and phone #’s. Then MapQuest and Google Maps came into the picture around 2005-2006 and this became the preferred way that consumers used to find local business information. This was the beginning of the death of print directories. Today Google and many other search engines have taken steps to further corner the local market by displaying local business listings right inside standard web searches. This is where the term, Local SEO was coined by internet marketers.
Here’s a Local SEO example for “Chiropractor in Hudson, FL”
Today’s local SEO example is finding a “Chiropractor in Hudson, FL”. Things that will stand out when clicking on the included images are the Google Map’s business directory featured at the top of page 1 of the standard search result pages. These listings are ranked by (A, B, C, D and so on) followed by the normal web search results. In fact, anyone that lives and does a web search in this area, will actually get the exact same organic results even if they typed the word “chiropractor” all by itself. The difference is, users that search for vague queries will see way more “paid advertisements” injected in their search results. By the way…the term organic means natural. Organic/Natural search results are results that are NOT paying sponsors to Google’s adwords pay-per-click program. There’s no fee to be ranked organically. Being in a position to be rank well “organically” is the best position to be in, because it doesn’t cost business owners anything, except for the time it takes optimizing a website and LOCAL SEO. A local SEO-er job would be to take initiatives to promote their client’s websites organically.
